The Shaw/Neubert family trees

Paul Louis George Neubert.

born 6 May 1923, died 23 December 1990. who with his first wife Lydia, had 2 offspring: Thierry and Christian. With his second wife Trudy Paul had one child, Frank Neubert.

Paul had one brother Jean Neubert.  His parents were: Emily Louise Neubert nee Urban and Louis Neubert

Paul Neubert was one of the more colourful characters in the family.  He was a qualified pilot - presumably a very good one, one the basis of the hairy manoeuvres he did without ever crashing or being shot down.  In the 2nd WW he escaped over the French border into Spain and was captured by Franco's troops, with whom he spoke in Latin.  His freedom was eventually bought with some sacks of grain.  He saw service in Vietnam, but declined to become a commercial airline pilot, preferring instead to become a self-employed business man.  Sadly his financial acumen did not match the grandeur of various plans, and he eventually became declared bankrupt.  He had 3 marriages, two of which produced children.  The only time the author Peter Shaw met Paul, he was living in the house of his brother Jean and was trying to sort out a little difficulty with a batch of combs that his company was due to supply to a client.  The teeth of the combs were stuck together, and due to some technicality involving payment the agent who supplied them would not take them back.  Paul was sitting with a ladyfriend and some wirecutters, snipping the combs back to useability.  When I asked how many combs there were to be processed, he said it was 120,000 and the delivery was due at the weekend!  I spent the rest of the evening in uncontrollable giggles at the preposterousness of the situation, but the rest of the family had more of an air of weary familiarity... I don't know how it worked out, but dustbinbags of these combs turned up after his death.
