This page is not intended to supercede or supplant the main sources of information about the Swansea course (which are of course the handouts), but is a useful interface for data downloads and helpful URLs.  The course dates were 29 June - 5 July 2009
 
 

2009 Data sets
Tuesday - Sand dunes (excel) or sand dune data in SPSS
Wednesday  Pelenna biotic data (excel) or Pelenna biotic data (SPSS)
- Pelenna abiotic data (excel) or Pelenna abiotic data (SPSS)
Thursday  -- bird day
Friday  - Rocky Shore day (excel) or exposed rock (SPSS) and pools (SPSS) , plus the exposure scale linked here .
Saturday Saltmarsh data (Excel), ; Saltmarsh data (SPSS),
               - Salicornia data -Cockles 2009 and old cockle data by age class and year, and old cockle data pooled by year
  Note that for consistency with previous years the youngest age clas is called year class zero, not 1.

A list of suggestions for analysing the Swansea datasets is listed here, and a little excel sheet to play with containing simulated cockle data is here.  There are also demonstrations of Shannon's and Simpson's diversity indices on here.  All feedback about statistical models is welcomed!

Any digitised photos that you have going spare I'd be grateful to receive - might even put them on the web for all to admire!
